2008 News

I guess that I would call the year of 2005 a time of "recouping our funds."  In years past, the auxiliary was able to have a healthy cash flow because of our handmade quilt raffle sales, which had earned $1,200 to $1,800.  Having that source of income allowed our auxiliary to provide the park with many amenities.  For example: benches, pool furniture, lake aerator, the adult activity room, playground supplies & shuffle board.

Because we have not had a quilt raffle for a few years our Auxiliary has depleted our monies.  So, we are in the process of correcting that situation.  Last fall, Teresa Martin, lot # 350, volunteered to make a queen size quilt during the winter months so that it could be raffled this year.  The quilt was partially finished when she went home so many of us know how beautiful it is.  The theme of the quilt is "Smoky Mountains" with elks, bears, log cabins and the mountains.  The colors are cream, brown, green and blues.  It is beautiful!

We are selling raffle tickets for $1 each and 6 for $5.  The drawing will be held at the October lot owners meeting.  So, we all have plenty of time to acquire the tickets and sell them.  We need all of the participation that we can receive.  The completed quilt will be at Teresa's trailer when she arrives in the Park.  Come see!

As an introduction to new lot owners and a reminder to other owners the Ladies Auxiliary have devoted their time and money to handle needs for the park that cannot be covered by the Condo fees. During the past years an AC/Heater was purchased for the adult activity room; a plaque was placed on the rock between the trees that were purchased to honor Bill & Cindy Black, and a dinner was held to honor the staff of Smoky Mtn. Ministries. This group provides non-denominational services on Sunday, day camp for the children in the park and family entertainment on Thursday evenings.

In past years the Ladies Auxiliary has provided the quilt in the rec room; furnished the adult activity room, poured the cement under the picnic sheds, renovated the miniature golf course twice, painted the rec building, bought the intercom system and built the shelves in the library. This is just a small example of what our dues and work have accomplished.

During the season (April to October) we also provide the opportunity to meet other people in the park by providing day trips, craft sessions and potlucks. However, these activities are all paid for by the attendees.

Your dues go directly to the benefit of the park. Dues are $10.00 a year. Make your check payable to ORA Ladies Auxiliary & include it with your condo payment. Please consider joining us to make this a better park.
